Senna Leaf Extract powder
Senna is a shrub that grows in India, Pakistan, southern China and many other places. The leaves and pods or fruit are used medicinally. The active ingredients in senna are called sennosides. The ingredient molecule is converted by microorganisms in the colon to another substance, rhein anthrone, which has the beneficial effect of stimulating colonic activity, accelerating bowel movements and improving digestion and increasing fluid secretion. The laxative effect of sennosides and its active metabolite rhein anthrone are thought to inhibit the absorption of water and electrolytes in the large intestine, thereby increasing the volume and pressure of intestinal contents.
